Additional income opportunities are available through instructor pay. Work Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- No midnight shifts (ECCPD operates only when the college is open)
- Summer schedule includes Fridays off
- Emergency closures are paid, including snow days

ECC Police Fast Facts
For many students, the ECC Police are their very first point of contact with law enforcement. That unique role creates an opportunity to foster trust, build relationships, and strengthen community connections.
While modest in size, the department is anything but small in capability. Equipped with modern technologies, progressive training, and a deep commitment to inclusivity, ECC Police ensure a campus environment where every student feels safe and supported.
By the Numbers:
- 500+ years of combined law enforcement experience – a wealth of knowledge from decades of service.
- 16 sworn officers – with diverse expertise spanning patrol, school resource, detective work, SWAT, command, and multi-level operations across state, local, and county agencies.
- 70% crisis intervention certified – most officers are specially trained to recognize and assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Dedicated presence – 3 or more officers on campus during open hours, ensuring continuous safety and responsiveness.
*Disclaimer for bonus: The total sign-on bonus amount is $8,000.00. The first payment of $4,000.00 will be issued upon certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB). The second payment of $4,000.00 will be issued after successful completion of the first year of continuous service.
